David Blewett is proud to announce his candidacy for Dallas City Council to represent District 6. A dedicated public servant, David brings a wealth of experience and a passion for community improvement. From 2019 to 2021, David had the honor of representing District 14 on the Dallas City Council, where he worked tirelessly to enhance mobility, economic vitality, neighborhood development, and public safety for the residents of Dallas.

During his time on the council, David served on five committees:

  • Vice-Chairman of Economic Development

  • Public Safety

  • Quality of Life

  • Ad Hoc COVID Recovery

  • Ad Hoc Judicial

A long-time Dallas resident, David has lived in various neighborhoods across the city, gaining a deep appreciation for our communities’ diversity and unique character. Over the years, he has called The Village Apartments, Knox-Henderson, Greenland Hills (the M-Streets), and Lakewood Heights home. Now residing in District 6, David is committed to listening to the needs of its residents and addressing the challenges they face every day.

David’s educational journey began at Southern Methodist University, where he attended on a football scholarship and graduated in 1989 with degrees in Business and Philosophy. While working in Detroit, Michigan, he earned an MBA in Finance from Wayne State University in 1993. He returned to Dallas in 1994 and began a career in real estate finance, eventually starting his own company in 1998. Today, he owns and operates Atlas Floor Supply, a successful flooring distribution company based in District 6, serving builders, flooring professionals, and contractors across North Texas.

Throughout his career and personal life, David has remained committed to giving back. His seven children have all attended Dallas ISD schools, and he has been an active volunteer in various initiatives aimed at improving public education and community safety:

  • Former Crime Watch Chair for Lakewood Heights

  • Former Crime Watch Board Member for Greenland Hills

  • Appointed by Dallas City Council to represent the M-Streets during the development and management of the permitting process for the St. Patrick’s Day events on Greenville Avenue

  • Instrumental in enacting the Conservation District for the M-Streets to preserve historic homes

  • SBDM Committee Member for Mockingbird Elementary

David’s transition to District 6 stems from his commitment to maintaining normalcy for his family during a period of personal change. This new chapter has deepened his connection to District 6 and the vibrant, diverse communities it encompasses.
